The course profile is for orbital insertion at X5682B.” Ortega appeared to look around the bridge again before continuing. “I will provide updates as we close with the ships on a least energy trajectory. I anticipate a visual scan in 20 minutes or so. Ortega out.”

Blout noted that the transmission was also encrypted. “Relay Wind transmissions to all task force ships,” he commanded, suddenly realizing his larger responsibilities. Doctor Stamp reached over to grab Captain Blout by the arm. “Captain, don’t you think that we should go out to meet them? After all, this could be a great moment.” Blout shook his head. “Doctor, the transmission lag? Remember, this is already relatively old. The lag will reduce as they come closer. It would take us longer than that to get out there, and we would have to accelerate hard and then decelerate hard, which might be misconstrued.” Stamp blushed. He mopped his brow with some sort of cloth. “Sorry, Captain, it is exciting. I have never even been on the bridge of a warship before.”
